sony ericsson

But kudos to Sony Ericsson, there are all sorts of rumours about the brand’s future (here and here) and the fact they are lagging behind super power Nokia in sales (here) but to the lil’old consumer in the street, it can be the smallest thing that can get your attention.
Blah, blah, blah, blah…new strategyBlah, blah, blah, blah…sustain brand positioning (huh?)Yawn, scratch ear and yawn again as I read that the brand will“unite” its disparate music- and video-centric brands into all-encompassing devices that currently fall under the project name of “Idou”
But then I see the following words;
“12.1 megapixel camera”I’m sold…where can I see one, try it out and re-evaluate my iphone purchase?
Yes brand marketers…it is that simple…just give us what we want and we’re happy…..
Until the next better looking thing comes along and gets our attention!

Why can’t we have it all??Editorial, Gadgets 2 Comments »

The never ending war on the mobile market just took another turn, when Nokia decided to follow up on their Blackberry brother from another mother, with the E63. Now i can already hear you out there… you can’t compare it to the Sony Ericsson C905, because the Nokia is aimed at business people. Well you know what i don’t care, because the consumers don’t care!
Just look at the Blackberry in the States, sure it’s also aimed at business people, but walk into any mall or any Footlocker and you’re gonna see hordes of young people spending money while texting on their Blackberry. Are you gonna tell them, i’m sorry they’re only for business people?? I didn’t think so. And the reason they love it is so obvious. It makes texting easier, and it’s easy to go online with.
Sony Ericsson on the other hand have discovered the other thing cell phones are used for these day.. taking pictures, so they’ve been smart enough to stick a 8,1 megapixel camera in their new flagship phone. Easily outdoing the 2 megapixel in the Nokia E63, because business people don’t take pictures.. are you kidding me???

Now the thirdly is music. Here there are two important factors… Headphones and music player. Nokia win the headphone battle simply because the E63 comes with a regular headphone plug. But Sony Ericsson still has the superior music player, eventhough Nokia have stepped their game up.
Now the simpe question i ask is, why can’t we have it all?? A Blackberry’esque phone that makes texting easy, when i can listen to music with proper headphones, while snapping away when i see a nice piece of street art…
Nokia’s Senior VP, Søren Petersen has stated that “The Nokia E63 is a new proposition for Eseries - a messaging device where people will be just as involved in their social network as they are in their business network. Whilst appealing to a new group of consumers with a design that feels great in the hand and has two new colors”. Good, but where is the rest??
